The themes of vintage posters are extremely varied and reveal a cross-section of twentieth-century life and tastes: cinema, fashion, food, drinks, political propaganda, tourism and more. The artistic value, importance of the artist and notoriety of the subject are the essential elements for evaluating a poster, but the state of preservation, which Aste Bolaffi describes as clearly and objectively as possible, should not be forgotten. The appeal of vintage posters and their high visual impact attract the attention not only of collectors but also of enthusiasts, and architecture and interior design professionals.
Aste Bolaffi holds the record for the most expensive Italian poster ever sold, with 'Fiat in pista' by Plinio Codognato, which sold in 1999 for 220 million lire (over 113,000 euros).
