The most famous atlas of the 16th century with 363 views of 543 cities, the “Civitates Orbis Terrarum”, is the top lot of the last Aste Bolaffi rare book and autograph auction, held in Milan on 22 June 2017. The atlas, one of the most famous books of this type, with a starting price of 50,000 euros was sold for 93,750 euros. It is the most beautiful copy that has ever gone on auction, with a red Morocco leather binding from the 18th century.
