MORO DI VENEZIA, SUCCESS FOR THE MEMORABILIA

An internet live auction dedicated to the sea, to all its enthusiasts, and to collectors of nautical instruments was held on July 4th with a catalogue full of interesting proposals including a special collection of memorabilia from one of the most exciting chapters in the history of Italian sailing: the Moro di Venezia, the boat headed by Raul Gardini in the 1992 America's Cup and winner of the Louis Vuitton Cup.
The top lots of the section were the Moro di Venezia II cockpit table, sold for 3.100 euros and the carbon-look Moro V half hull, made with pieces recovered from the aft deck of the boat cut to lighten it for the America's Cup final, sold for 3.000 euros.
The auction also proposed nautical instruments, naval models, posters, paintings and books, as well as a collection of transatlantic memorabilia, such as fascinating furnishings from the Augustus ocean liner, a travel trunk with a Rex label, and a series of memorabilia from Costa cruise ships.
