The best collector's items in the fields of advertising and cinematographic posters are auctioned by this department, which offers rare vintage and modern posters autographed by the most important Italian and international poster designers: such as Leonello Cappiello, Leopoldo Metlicovitz, Marcello Dudovich, Federico Seneca, Averardo Ciriello, Anselmo Ballester and many more.
The themes of vintage posters are extremely varied and reveal a cross-section of twentieth-century life and tastes: cinema, fashion, food, drinks, political propaganda, tourism and more. The artistic value, importance of the artist and notoriety of the subject are the essential elements for evaluating a poster, but the state of preservation, which Aste Bolaffi describes as clearly and objectively as possible, should not be forgotten. The appeal of vintage posters and their high visual impact attract the attention not only of collectors but also of enthusiasts, and architecture and interior design professionals.
Among the sales of the Poster's Department is the Italian poster 'Fiat in pista' by Plinio Codognato, which sold in 1999 for 220 million lire (over 113,000 euros).
