Giacomo Leopardi, one of the most emblematic figures in world literature, was born in Recanati on 29 June 1798, exactly 225 years ago.

During the next auction of Ancient Books and Autographs, Aste Bolaffi will present a long autograph letter signed by Leopardi, addressed to his cousin "Peppino", the Marquis Giuseppe Melchiorri. The letter is friendly but also full of hints of great interest, first of all the mention of the genesis of a new work, which unfortunately never saw the light.

This rare and evocative document, by the hand of a poet of unparalleled fame, will be auctioned in Turin on 12 and 13 July 2023, together with three very rare editions of his first poetry collections.
