Cassa circolare a due corpi in oro 18K, n. 656947, anse curve con
profilo scanalato, fondello a scatto zigrinato e vetro zaffiro, corona
di carica con la croce di Malta. Cinturino in coccodrillo e chiusura
ad ardiglione Vacheron & Constantin in oro 18K.
Quadrante in oro 22K firmato in basso e decorato con la mappa dei
continenti incisa e smaltata a fuoco, firma a lato “J & L. Genbrugge”,
ore e minuti a numeri arabi con indicazioni retrograde. Lancette in
oro a forma di compasso.
Movimento a carica automatica rodiato e firmato, calibro 1120/2,
n. 798278, 36 rubini, bariletto sospeso, rotore su binario con
cuscinetto in rubino e inserto in oro 21K inciso “1594 Gerard
Mercator 1994”, scappamento ad ancora, bilanciere monometallico
regolato per il caldo e freddo, l’isocronismo e cinque posizioni,
spirale piana, antiurto KIF.
Accompagnato da scatola in mogano rivestita di massello d'olmo,
libretto sulla storia di Gerard Mercator e dell’orologio, garanzia
Vacheron Constantin.

Two body circular 18K gold case, n. 656947, curved lugs with fluted
edges, reeded snap on back with sapphire glass, winding crown
with Maltese cross. Vacheron & Constantin alligator strap and 18K
gold deployant clasp.
Solid 22K gold dial signed beneath, map of the continents
engraved and enamelled, signed aside “J & L. Genbrugge”,
retrograde indications for the hours and the minutes with Arabic
numerals. Gold compass-shaped hands.
Signed self-winding movement, rhodium-plated caliber 1120/2, n.
798278, 36 jewels, suspended barrel, rail-rotor with ruby bearing
and with 21K gold insert engraved “1594 Gerard Mercator 1994”,
lever escapement, monometallic balance adjusted for heat and cold,
isochronism and five positions, flat hairspring, KIF shock-absorber.
Fitted with Vacheron & Constantin mahogany box covered in solid elm,
booklet with the history of Gerard Mercator and the watch, warranty.
