Veduta di Genova dal campanile della chiesa delle
Vigne 1842
Dagherrotipo in montatura arcaica con cartoncino crema
e riquadratura, filettatura nera. Raro dagherrotipo che
immortala la città di Genova quasi certamente nella
sua prima fotografia. La lastra è facilmente riconducibile
a Girault de Prangey che si trovava in città nel 1842
durante il suo viaggio in Italia e Medio Oriente. Un altro
dagherrotipo di Girault de Prangey che ritrae il portale della
Cattedrale è conservato nelle collezioni dell’Harry Ransom
Center dell’ Università del Texas (University of Texas Austin
964:0020:0120).
Inoltre dello stesso dagherrotipo qui proposto esistono
due versioni leggermente differenti, ma certamente
scattate dallo stesso autore a breve distanza ora
conservate al Centre Canadien d’Architecture di Montreal
(PH1986:0070-PH1986:0071).

Rare Genoa’s city view daguerreotype in archaic frame.
The plate is easily attributable to Girault de Prangey who
was in the city in 1842 during his trip to Italy and the
Middle East. Another daguerreotype of Girault de Prangey
portraying the portal of the Cathedral is preserved in the
collections at Harry Ransom Center University of Texas
(University of Texas Austin 964: 0020: 0120).
Moreover there are two versions of the same
daguerreotype with slightly differences, but certainly taken
by the same author at short distance, now preserved at
the Centre Canadien d’Architecture in Montreal (PH1986:
PH1986-0070: 0071).
