Il Rolex Daytona 6263 è il legittimo erede della referenza 6240, poiché, a differenza del 6265 conserva la lunetta
con l'inserto nero, caratteristica entrata di vigore nell’immaginario comune del cronografo sportivo.
Prodotte a partire dai primi anni ’70, sia la referenza 6263 che la 6265 rimasero in produzione sino alla fine degli anni
’80, quando Rolex introdusse il suo primo cronografo con movimento automatico, la referenza 16520. Visto il lungo
periodo in cui furono in commercio, il 6263 e il 6265 sono forse le due referenze Daytona per eccellenza, che hanno
contribuito a far diventare questo modello un vero e proprio status symbol, oltre che l’orologio di punta Rolex.
L’orologio in asta rappresenta la versione più iconica e desiderata dai collezionisti: quadrante “Panda” e scritta
Daytona stampata in grandi caratteri rossi -denominata “Big Red”-, introdotta a circa metà anni ‘70 sopra al
contatore delle ore. L’orologio è stato consegnato dal primo e unico proprietario, che ha preservato attentamente
ogni suo componente in condizioni eccellenti.

The Rolex Daytona 6263 is the rightful successor to the 6240 reference, because, unlike the 6265, it preserves the
bezel with the black insert, a distinguishing characteristic in the imagery of the sports chronograph.
Produced since the early '70s, both the 6263 and the 6265 references remained in production until the late ‘80s,
when Rolex introduced its first chronograph with automatic movement, the 16520 reference. Given the extended
period of time in which they were marketed, the 6263 and the 6265 are perhaps the two Daytona references par
excellence, which have helped make this watch a real status symbol, in addition to Rolex’s flagship model.
The watch offered in this auction represents the most iconic and desired version by collectors, with the "Panda"
dial and Daytona printed in large red characters, called "Big Red", which was introduced in the mid ‘70s above the
hour counter. The watch was consigned by the first and only owner, who carefully preserved each component in
excellent condition.
