The Porsche 911 first came into being in 1963, and
since then, although diversified through a multi-
tude of series and versions, it has enjoyed seemingly
never-ending success. Despite its rather “lively” be-
havior on the road, which has challenged more than
one driver, it has captivated millions of enthusiasts
the world over. Thanks to the continuous evolution
of the model, at the hands of the engineers in Stutt-
gart, the 911 has gone from strength to strength,
becoming constantly better, higher performing
and more reliable. Among the numerous series pro-
duced, the most powerful S (sport) ones are always
particularly appreciated, especially those developed
for racing (“renn” in German). Usually produced in a
number great enough to allow racing homologation
of the model in question, these are marketed as RS
(rennsport). The most legendary model of all time is
the one based on the 911, equipped with an engine
increased to 2.7 liters (2687 cc) and capable of gen-
erating 210 HP, thanks its mechanical fuel injection,
stiffened suspension, oversized brakes and enlarged
rear wheel arches. The RS 2.7 Carrera (Carrera being
a name often given by Porsche to its more powerful
versions) was launched in 1973. In the more refined
Touring version it weighed just 1,075 kg; the Sport
Lightweight, from which the Touring was derived,
