E SERPENTE SOTTO I PIEDI
Cina, dinastia Qing, XIX secolo
Legno intagliato, laccato e dorato, barba realizzata con capelli veri.
Zhenwu (“vero guerriero”) è una delle divinità più potenti del daoismo,
venerato per invocare la guarigione dalle malattie e per esorcizzare
influssi malvagi.
Buono stato, segni di tarli, piccole crepe di stagionatura. La punta delle
dita dei piedi e la testa della tartaruga sono rotti. Nicchia sul dorso vuota.

Carved wood, lacquered and gilded, beard made of real hair. Zhenwu
(“true warrior”) is one of the most powerful gods of Daoism, venerated
for invoking the healing of illnesses and for exorcising evil influences..
Good condition, signs of woodworm, small seasoning cracks. The tips
of the toes and the head of the tortoise are broken. Empty niche on
back.

(YAO WANG) CON TIGRE E SERPENTE
Cina, dinastia Qing, XVIII-XIX secolo
Legno laccato, la figura più piccola anche
dorata. Yao Wang è uno dei dieci grandi
guaritori, capace di curare la febbre. Al
personaggio storico, vissuto in epoca Tang
(618-907) viene attribuito un volume di
farmacologia.
Parti sporgenti mancanti, tracce di tarli.

Lacquered wood, the smaller figure is also
gilded. Yao Wang is one of the ten great
healers, capable of curing fever.
The historic personage, who lived during
the Tang era (618-907), appears to be
the author of a volume on pharmacology.
Protruding parts are missing, traces of
woodworm.
Height 10.43 and 9 in.
