Giappone, XIX secolo
Legno laccato e sontuosamente decorato a oro, si compone di quattro
ripiani posanti su piedi a mensola. Parte dello spazio compreso tra il
primo e il secondo e tra il secondo e terzo dal basso, è chiuso da due
sportelli. Le cerniere di questi ultimi, e molti punti sensibili della struttura
sono rinforzati da piastre in metallo finemente inciso con motivi vegetali.
La decorazione è a lacca dorata in maki-e. All’interno degli sportelli del
cassetto più in alto sono raffigurati in lacca dorata le divinità Ebisu e
Daikoku, protettori del benessere economico.

Japan, 19th Century
Lacquered wood sumptuously decorated with gold, these four shelves
are supported by four bracketed legs. Part of the space between the
first and second and second and third from the bottom is closed by
two doors. The hinges of the latter, and many delicate parts of the
structure are reinforced with metal places that are finely engraved with
vegetal patterns. The gold lacquer decoration is in maki-e. Inside the
doors of the drawers near the top are golden lacquer portrayals of the
gods Ebisu and Daikoku, protectors of economic well-being.
