Pippo Oriani tra il 1928 e il 1932 viveva prevalentemente a Parigi avendo un contratto con Rosemberg (lo stesso di Picasso, Braque, Gris)
ed esponeva le sue opere da Bernheim Jaune. Questa opera “Grottesco” del 1929-30 è una di esse, puramente cubista, dipinta con colori
di alta qualità fornitigli da Picasso stesso che lo invitava ad usarli dicendogli che avrebbe dovuto aspettare almeno venti anni prima
di poter vendere le sue opere: profezia che si è avverata negli anni ‘50 quando per Oriani cominciò un prospero mercato.

Pippo Oriani between 1928 and 1932 lived mainly in Paris having a contract with Rosemberg (the same as Picasso, Braque, Gris)
and exhibited his works at Bernheim Jaune. This “Grotesque” work from 1929-30 is one of them, purely cubist, painted with high quality
colors supplied to him by Picasso himself who invited him to use them, telling him that he would have to wait at least twenty years before
being able to sell his works: a prophecy that it came true in the 1950s when a prosperous market began for Oriani.
